Why do iOS apps that render web links usually open an in-app browser, and not the system one?

Capping timber building heights to 4 storeys is a backwards step. Timber can be made fire-safe; traps CO2 (where concrete production emits it); it looks nicer! UK Gov needs to rethink.

This tweet on the official UK Civil Service account was only up for 9 minutes but got 38k likes, 36.5k retweets plus all the comments. Guess someone has lost their job over it. That reaction to it, in such a short time frame, shows just how much BoJo has misjudged public opinion on this.

@nigeldgreen Same! Was surprised. What next, a mastodon server on the tube?

Just seen a big digital billboard add for #DuckDuckGo at the end of our road.

Today I miss sipping hot drinks and lounging with friends in festival cafes. Carefree, surrounded by music, art and the bustle that doesn't bustle.

I was thinking, just the other day "What's happened to The Bays?". Imagine my surprise when a link to this landed in my inbox today:

Hi folks,
I couldn't find a Mastodon host which encapsulated what I wanted in a "home" instance, so I made one. Welcome to mastodon.london! I expect it'll start out full of tech people and Burners, because that's the meat-space social scene I inhabit. However, I think it should develop to include people who identify as Londoners, but want a decentralised network to call home.

A digital home for Londoners. Hi folks, I couldn't find a Mastodon host which encapsulated what I wanted from my home server, so I made one. Welcome to mastodon.london. It's open to people in London. I expect it'll start out full of tech people and Burners, because that's the meat-space social scene I inhabit. However, I think it should develop to include people who identify as Londoners, but want a decentralised network to chat on.
